[Week02]Prototype stage


[Short description]

Our game is a player vs player-based game located in house with a static camera at a 80° angle. It's about 2 children, a teenager and an infant that are left alone at home when their mom goes to the grocery store. The teenager gets a list of tasks he needs to complete before the mom gets back home. The infant must try to prevent the teenager from finishing his tasks. The infant will be able to slow down his older brother by hidding objects the brother needs to finish his tasks.

Starting Position


[Question we asked our self]

  • How will the camera behave ?

Our camera angle will be 85° => Top down.
Shake when the baby hits the older brother with an object.
Zoom in and out depending on how far the players are from each other.




  • How do the controls work?

Very Simpel!

Controler:
- Left stick => Walk
- Right  stick => Do tasks!
- Buttons => More Tasks!
- Left and Right Trigger => Pickup objects.



  • Which engine did we choose?

- Unity
But why ?

Our first week we worked in both unity and unreal to find out wich engine was better.
In the end we concluded that our game would be made in unity because of the difficulty of unreal and time pressure.
But we would have loved making it in unreal and learned all the features. 
Unfortunaly it is hard to find good documentation of unreal c++.


  • What are some of the mechanics ?

Doing all sort of tasks like:

- Doing the dishes
- Washing Windows
- Homework
- Watering Plants
- Doing all sort of householding stuff.

 Throwing objects picked up on the floor to your older brother to
slow down his process. 

Hide important task items in the house.

Next week we will begin our game for real.
Much more development will be made.
Art assets will be created.
New features will be implemented.

Our prototyping will not have much nice art because we mainly focused on the gameplay self and not the beauty of the game.
Next week it will start looking good !

[Textures]

Our plan is to stylize our props like the game Overcooked.
Fancy colors and simple props.

Im happy with the way it turned out, I've never made one so it was a bit of a struggle.
